Red Dot Design Award - Lina & Artesano Original

Not just one but two new porcelain collections from the Tableware Division of Villeroy & Boch were able to score at this year's red dot design awards. In February 2013 the uncomplicated everyday concept Lina and the multifunctional tableware collection Artesano Original were presented at the Ambiente in Frankfurt am Main, and both have now been given an "honourable mention" by the 37-strong red dot jury in recognition of their particularly successful detail solutions.

Lina and Artesano Original were up against extremely tough competition: this year 1,865 manufacturers, designers and architects submitted their best products and projects to the red dot design award. The international jury of experts were faced with assessing 4,662 entries.

Well-designed, flexible and individual

The two Villeroy & Boch collections Lina and Artesano Original convinced the jury with the high quality of their design. The premium porcelain Lina is characterised by a distinctively accessible and playfully modern-vintage d├ęcor in fresh colours, offering many individual mix & match possibilities. The flexible tableware collection Artesano Original presents an uncomplicated, archaic look that unites challenging design language with perfect craftsmanship. Artesano Original draws energy from a modern material mix featuring pure white premium porcelain, robust acacia wood, slate and natural cork. The Artesano Original concept is completed by attractive eye-catchers like the tiered server made of wood and slate and the special glass tea and coffee line.

The red dot design award

The red dot design award is one the most renowned international competitions. The red dot label has established itself as a coveted quality seal for excellent design. An independent jury made up of recognised design experts judges all the competition entries, testing and evaluating them according to criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, durability, ecological compatibility and self-explanatory quality. In order to do justice to the diversity of the area of design, the red dot design award is subdivided into "red dot award: product design", "red dot award: communication design" and "red dot award: design concept".
